Design professionals finally have the opportunity to navigate through our industry-specific program!
To celebrate the successful launch of Industry Speaks™, a web-based application that allows architecture, engineering and construction/construction management firms to search nationally for business consultants that specialize in the architecture, engineering and construction industries, a Sept. 22 launch party is set to take place in Los Angeles.
Industry statistics have shown that many design and construction firms have reduced as much as 30 percent of the technical and administrative staff as a result of the economic downtown, in order to remain competitive. Yet, while firms can no longer afford to staff operational resources internally, many still have a need for experienced professionals.
“For years, only large, multi-office firms have been able to have access to the experienced business industry professionals who speak the Industry [architecture, engineering and construction] language,” said A3K Consulting Principal Karen Compton, who designed Industry Speaks™. “Industry Speaks™ attempts to close the competitive gap by bridging business management professionals [consultants] with companies [subscribers] that have short- or long- term business management issues such as human resources, legal, public relations, information technology, finance/administration and marketing.”
The concept was borne of requests from Compton’s clients and colleagues who needed recommendations for everything from graphic designers to human resources professionals. “Following the economic downturn in 2009, friends and associates would call or email my office looking for recommendations for business management professionals,” explained 15-year industry veteran, Compton. “What became clear was that demand for business management hadn’t changed, but the supply, specifically availability of a staff, had been lost. My goal was to develop a solution that was cost effective and simple to use.”
For the next few months, Industry Speaks™ will be offering a free trial to consultants and subscribers, so that they are able to register and locate the types of resources they need to meet their current and future business demands. The cost of this subscription service? Less than a magazine subscription.
